Muktinath is a famous Bishnu Temple, sacred for both Hindus and
Buddhists, located at foot of the
Thorong La
mountain pass in
Mustang,
Nepal. It is famous for
the location and also 108 taps where people take a bath as they worship Lord
Bishnu.

Among different replicas of Muktinath temple all around
Nepal, one of the most famous is located at Godavari, Lalitpur. Muktinath
Lalitpur, famously known as Mini Muktinath is located at Dhungashaghu, Godavari.
Initiation from the locals changed a small temple at a bank of a river into a
famous temple with 108 continuous flowing taps (108 dhara) and now famous as
Mini Muktinath. A temple with statue of Muktinath, 108 dhara, statue of
mahadev, other deities alongside, a room from Bhajan, picnic spot, manmade old stone
saghu and the location itself are some of the major attractions. People who
want to go to Mustang and are not able to, find this place as an alternative
and come visit here. The popularity of this place is increasing day by day. Locals
are working on management, for more improvements. They also are working on good
picnic spots.

There are several roads you can take to visit
this temple. One of the easiest way is to take a bus from Lagankhel or
Sathdobato heading towards Damaitar, Godamchour. Get down at Karki chowk which
is next stop, 300 m away from famous old Damaitar VDC office (Gabisha Bhawan)
or Damaitar Lower secondary school. Take a left offroad from Karki Chowk and
walk for 5 minutes and at a bank of a small river you’ll see the temple with
108 Dhara. If in case you miss a bus to Damaitar, or could not find the bus,
take any local bus or van going to Godavari and get down at Thaiba. Then take a
left road heading towards Damaitar, walk for 30 to 40 mins will take you to the
temple. River, fields, steep roads, beautiful village can be some attractions
on the way. You may also visit the temple from Badegaun or Godamchour. Also some
may prefer the way from Lubhu according to their location. |
